UK Lingerie Awards 2012

When Simona and I pulled up outside the awards venue, there was already a bustling group of photographers and press waiting for the celebs to arrive! The event was held the truly breath-taking venue of One Mayfair, a converted church with a stunning hall and beautiful original details.

The space had been wonderfully decorated and lit for the awards. We were ushered upstairs to enjoy an aperitif, and looked down excitedly at the carefully arranged tables. After catching up with fellow retailers, designers and industry experts, we went down to find our seats and eat a delicious meal. My highlight was definitely the semi-freddo for dessert…delectable! Then, with everyone sat at the very edge of their seats, the awards were announced.

A number of our brands scooped up prestigious awards, including Made by Niki who won not one but two awards: Most Innovative Brand of the Year and Independent Directional Brand of the Year.

Dirty Pretty Things won New Designer of the Year, whilst Kiss Me Deadly won the public vote for UK’s Favourite British Designer.

And, of course, Dolci Follie won Independent Retailer of the Year!

The announcements ended with the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to Lingerie Retailer and Dragon Theo Paphetis. Whilst he couldn’t be there to accept the award, he did send a hilarious acceptance video!

We were then entertained (and persuaded to get dancing) by the Swing Ninjas for the rest of the evening!
